A survey carried out by The Student Room to understand how students deal with money has found that 56% of recent graduates rated a generous holiday allowance as one of the top two benefits that organisations can offer. Paid travel expenses was also important whilst discounts on company products was least favoured.
The majority of graduates (62.5%) believe the average starting salary to be between £18,000 and £24,000 with an optimistic 6% expecting over £30,000. The benefits they prefer to help increase the value of their salary tend to be the long term options like life/dental and health insurance, whilst a staggering 20% said that ‘generous pension contributions’ were the least important benefit.
