So what does your job actually involve? Tell us all about it
I manage and optimise all programmatic sources of display ad revenue, closely monitoring, analysing and troubleshooting performance of bids, yields, win and fill rates. I also analyse programmatic buying patterns to setup Private Market Place (PMP) deals and identify leads for the company’s traditional sales team.
What's the most unique part of your role at The Student Room?
Working with the largest student community and almost all of the universities in the UK! It's fascinating working with such large numbers of varied young people.
What do you find most exciting about working in the student & youth market?
Our students love sharing their opinions with us so we're able to see exactly what works and doesn't work for them in the advertising world. It's really refreshing to work in an environment where we match up students with advertisers who will offer something that they're actually interested in.
If you could give your student self one piece of advice what would it be?
Keep doing what you're doing! You're cramming a lot of advanced knowledge into your head in a relatively short space of time, most of which is new to you. Remember to focus more on learning and enjoying the subject and less on measurable performance; you're not just at uni to get a job!
