So what does your job actually involve? Tell us all about it!
Lead developer at the student room, I enhance and develop the variable websites for TSR. This is a very rewarding role as we regularly have to problem solve and work on the architecture of the sites to improve the availability and experience. Our main task is to add great features and make sure they work seamlessly.
What's the most unique part of your role at The Student Room?
Data, I am a bit of a data and database junkie so when there is reporting to be done it usually falls on my plate. I have also been getting stuck into the search engines so big improvements coming soon.
What do you find most exciting about working in the student & youth market?
The student room is an extraordinary tool for young people to help them through some of the most import years of their lives and my part of providing that tool is a great motivation for me. TSR helps them 24 hours a day in all the successes and concerns they have at a stage in their lives where they are learning about the world and finding out what interests them. Hopefully some of those decisions they make with the student room's help are better choices.
If you could give your student self one piece of advice what would it be?
Make sure you find something you enjoy doing, you’re probably going to be spending allot of your live doing whatever subject you choose to study at university so make the right choice for you. No regrets just experiences. Oh and maybe go to the gym a bit more than the pub.
