So what does your job actually involve? Tell us all about it!
My job is to make TSR into a brilliant website, filling it with useful new features and making the existing ones better to use, faster and more accessible to the wide world. On top of that I help to keep bugs under control, our servers humming along nicely and breakages to a minimum.
What's the most unique part of your role at The Student Room?
Absorbing all the feedback we get from members, which we never seem to run out of. Not only the vociferous opinions we get on the forums, but all the little comments and jokes you see around the site, and the different ways that people use it. Sometimes a member will manage to do something entirely different with what we've built, and in their own way made it more interesting and versatile than anything in the original idea.
What do you find most exciting about working in the student & youth market?
The community never seems to switch off when you're in the world of students. No matter what's happening, there will be people talking, reading and thinking about it or coming up with new things to talk, read and think about. It's always changing.
If you could give your student self one piece of advice what would it be?
If someone giving you advice appears to be a time-travelling future version of yourself, that advice should definitely be taken with a pinch of salt. And when forced to stick to a mimium character limit, you may end up writing all sorts of useless rubbish, so best hope it doesn't actually get published.
