A bit about Emily…

So what does your job actually involve? Tell us all about it!

I get to meet with our lovely customers to tell them all about us, and how we can help them connect with our audience in a useful, mutually beneficial way. I am their point of contact at TSR, so I answer any queries they have and help to manage their campaigns. I work closely with our Marketing and Design teams to stay up to speed on all the cool new things we are doing, so I can keep our clients updated.

What's the most unique part of your role at The Student Room?

The unique thing about working at TSR is that everyone is genuinely passionate about what they do. I have never worked with such a fun, creative, smart bunch of people before. We all really care about TSR and are continually seeking ways to improve the site and the experience of using it. We are able to reach students from all across the world to provide help and advice; we are unique in that respect and it is something we are very proud of.

What do you find most exciting about working in the student & youth market?

The best thing about working in this market is knowing we are providing support to students through what can be tumultuous and pressured times. I wish I had known about TSR when I was a student!! I love reading posts on the site; you can’t beat the energy, carefree humour and clear vision of students. We don’t take ourselves too seriously here at TSR; I think the ability to work for a great company and be yourself is exciting.

If you could give your student self one piece of advice what would it be?

Finishing at 3?! Hanging out with your friends all day?! Learning about really interesting subjects (albeit with some maths thrown in..) These are special times – enjoy them!!! Don't worry about the future; everything will fall into place if you keep the same spirit! Don’t let your rebellious streak (or fondness for gin) get in the way of what you can achieve. Within the next ten years you will have surpassed all your hopes for the future.. so chill out and enjoy the ride.
