So what does your job actually involve? Tell us all about it
I help the QA team ensure that all changes big and small to the site are secure, bug-free and fit-for-purpose prior to going live. I also annoy the developers to no end whenever I have to tell them their technological sorcery isn't working.
What's the most unique part of your role at The Student Room?
I get to be a part of so many different projects which all help strengthen the site so it remains a huge benefit to students everywhere. In these projects I get to communicate with so many fun and interesting personnel across various departments, all of whom are incredibly passionate and hard-working which helps make TSR HQ an ideal environment in which to work.
What do you find most exciting about working in the student & youth market?
These days, there's so much new information available to students of any age so I'm sure this helps make the market incredibly diverse with new and exciting possibilities. TSR couldn't be any closer to this market so it will always have the opportunity to make excellent use of these possibilities and stay ahead of the curve in order to support students of all ages and remain an unrivaled online student community.
If you could give your student self one piece of advice what would it be?
Don't worry if people don't 'get you' immediately and don't be so scared of failing all the time. School won't last forever and, while it's a cliché, you'll come across as more natural and confident if you just choose to be yourself. Also, cut your losses recommending to people weird bands that only you seem to love!
