We’re Hiring – Community Support Officer

We are looking for a Community Support Officer to join The Student Room Group.

Who are we?

The Student Room Group (TSR) is the largest, most useful and best-loved online student community there is. Millions of students turn to us first for advice, info and support on work, learning and life’s ups and downs. And that means we’re uniquely privileged to connect educators and employers to switched-on young people actively seeking out answers and meaningful connections.

What does a Community Support Officer do at The Student Room?

Reporting into the Head of Community Engagement, the Community Support Officer provides key administrative support across our community forums.

An active member of the TSR community, a significant proportion of your time will be spent supporting and organising conversation on site. You’ll provide helpful responses to queries and questions, you’ll gather feedback and insight from site members plus signpost them to helpful resources and other community members.

You’ll also help to guide our team of volunteers, ensuring they are actively engaged in engagement campaign briefs and assignments and are supporting our goal to help young people to make informed decisions, which are right for them.

You will be a site ‘super-user’ and will understand the intricacies of how users engage with the site. You’ll use this knowledge to inform product development and ensure the smooth roll out of new features and functionality to our online community.

This opportunity will suit someone who has:

  • A genuine passion for supporting students and young people – and empathy for the challenges they face.
  • Strong understanding of GenZ and Gen Alpha and what appeals to them.
  • An interest in secondary education and further (FE) and higher education (HE) sectors.
  • An interest in developing online communities.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence and ability to bring out the best in the people around them.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Natural team collaboration skills and is comfortable, and enjoys, working with others.
  • A proactive and positive ‘can do’ attitude and a willingness to seek development opportunities.
