We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join The Student Room Group.

What does a Senior QA Engineer at The Student Room do?

Reporting into a senior member of the production department, as a Senior QA Engineer, you will coach and grow a small team of QA engineers and create an environment where they deliver great results, achieve outstanding individual performance, and demonstrate ethical behaviors.

You will also play an active role in one of our SCRUM teams, providing high quality testing for new developments and updates to existing features. These SCRUM teams are responsible for our two flagship products – The Student Room and TheUniGuide actively developing and maintaining these products to ensure we offer brilliant value to our users and provide sustainable revenue streams for the business.

Using your expertise to set clear goals, you will provide clarity to your direct reports on what is required of them and support them to maximize their potential. Good leadership and motivational skills are essential elements of this role, as is attention to detail, leading by example and working closely with other Team Leaders and Managers.

You will act as a source of information and guidance for team members, encouraging them to collaborate and challenge where appropriate to ensure a consistent, accurate and efficient approach to quality assurance at The Student Room Group.

As a Senior QA Engineer, you will coach and grow a small team of QA engineers and manage issues, performance management and other people related matters as required.

Day to day responsibilities / tasks will include:

  • Executing test plans to ensure changes are stable before being deployed into production environments.
  • Creating automated tests to drive our automated test coverage up
  • Work closely with all members of the cross-functional SCRUM team to deliver solutions that cater to all user requirements.
  • Act as a source of information and guidance for team members, encouraging them to seek further information, guidance or to challenge as appropriate.
  • Carry out regular 121’s and performance / development reviews with the QA team members and proactively deal with any issues that may arise.
  • Set up and manage the quality assurance processes together with any SCRUM team tasks, including planning resources accordingly to ensure all actions are delivered.

Salary: c. £55k per annum

37.5 hours per week

This role includes the possibility / option of remote working on either a temporary, permanent or mixed basis. If remote, you’ll be required infrequently to come to our office as required. Our office is based in Brighton.
