We are looking for an Account Director to join The Student Room Group.

Key role responsibilities:

  • Work with higher education clients.
  • Develop senior level contacts across organisations.
  • Work collaboratively with all internal stakeholders.
  • Be a passionate advocate of why TSR matters to our clients and our users.
  • Be an expert internally and externally within the online advertising space and the Higher Education & Pathways industry.
  • Deliver engaging, effective sales presentations virtually and in-person that provide a clear message to all existing and prospective clients.
  • Mentor junior team members, support their growth and help foster a collaborative environment that thrives on curiosity and continuous learning.
  • Maintain a strategic focus across entire territory, developing annual strategic plans for each client in line with revenue targets.
  • Work with sales team leaders to feed into product development roadmap.
  • Develop and maintain excellent levels of market knowledge through networking, event attendance, trade press etc.

  • Has effective presentation skills, is organised and structured in their approach to work.
  • Enjoys hybrid working, mixing two days a week in the office with working remotely, as well as travel to build client relationships.

Desirable Skills

  • Substantial client facing sales experience, working within digital and online media sales/agencies.
  • Degree level education or equivalent.

What does an Account Director do at The Student Room?

Our Account Directors are passionate advocates for the Higher Education sector, bringing their wealth of knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm to the fore to help The Student Room tackle some of the biggest challenges faced by our marketing colleagues in the sector.

Working within our sales team, you will be developing relationships with our clients at the highest level, providing and maintaining excellent levels of service throughout the client experience and building and actioning a clear sales plan.

As an Account Director, you will work hand in hand with our Head of University Accounts and Head of Agency Accounts to work with a core group of Higher Education clients, providing effective solutions to their marketing and student recruitment needs, hitting KPI and revenue targets and feeding market and client insights into the development of our products.
Establish yourself as an industry expert. Be comfortable to represent TSR at conferences, host workshops, and lead roundtables, contributing thought leadership that elevates TSR’s reputation and sets new industry standards.

The Student Room’s product range is a blend of traditional online advertising and social media engagement, which help clients connect to our booming online youth community. You will develop into an online advertising expert, so that you are completely confident in digital marketing terminology and the new and emerging technologies within the sector.

Salary: £45-50k per annum (depending on experience) plus commission

Location: Our team values in-person collaboration and typically meets twice a week at our Brighton office. We’re looking for someone who can join us in person at least twice a week, with the flexibility to come in more often during induction or for company events.
