The Student Room’s Tech team came 4th out of 43 participants in Amazon Web Services (AWS) GameDay challenge. 

Team TSR, led by Simon, Leigh and Jez, narrowly missed out on a top-three spot in the global competition due to waiting for a deployment to complete.

The Amazon challenge required teams to work collaboratively to solve real-world problems in an AWS environment. This involved:

1.Database encryption and security

2.Automated IP blocking based on malicious requests

3. Access control audits and automated server patching

The team was delighted to take part, saying that: “Great fun and satisfaction [was] achieved by all.” They have returned full of inspiration for new strategic initiatives which will be rolled out across The Student Room Group.
