We’re delighted to announce The Student Room has recently been certified by the Cyber Essentials standard, a Government backed scheme to help businesses protect themselves against cyber threats.
The scheme was launched in 2014 and is designed to improve the resilience of UK businesses to cyber security threats. The scheme requires companies to implement five key controls to:
- Secure your internet connection
- Secure your devices and software
- Control access to your data and services
- Protect from viruses and other malware
- Keep your devices and software up to date
The Student Room takes cyber security seriously, to accomplish this, we’ve been working with BiP Solutions Ltd, a QG Management Standards Certification Body, to meet the high requirements of this scheme and achieve our badge.
Cyber Essentials enables businesses to demonstrate they are taking strong action to control risks – critical if they are to protect themselves, their customers and their brands. Brian Lightowler, Managing Director, QG Management Standards who are an Accreditation Body for the Cyber Essentials scheme said:
“Cyber security is an increasingly important area for organisations to take seriously and failure to do so represents a significant risk both to themselves and their customers. Cyber Essentials is an excellent government-endorsed standard and by taking five simple steps companies are able to demonstrate good practice and commitment to protecting themselves against cyber threats.”
